Alexandra and Eleanor are the older chickens (that we got first, read here) and they are best friends.  Alexandra is the most dominant one and Eleanor does not ever want to be away from Alexandra.

We got Penelope and then Rosie last.  They are at least a month younger than the older chicks.  They are also best friends.  Not as much as Eleanor and Alexandra but they are still best friends.  Penelope loves Nathan though.  He thinks she thinks he is her dad.  She follows him around and likes to sit with him sometimes.  It is cute.

Hadley says that Rosie likes her the best, Penelope likes Nathan the best, Eleanor likes Alexandra the best and Alexandra likes Noah the best.  There is no reason why Alexandra likes Noah the best, Alexandra just had to like someone and she chose Noah.  The kids love the chicks.

Noah is really liking catching the chickens.

Haley is pretty good about catching the little chicks and holding them.  Noah is trying but he just isn’t that fast and he doesn’t really know how to hold them.  He tries though and then gets frustrated.  Today and yesterday he been in tears because he gets so frustrated because he can’t catch them or he can’t hold on to them once he does catch them.  I feel bad for the guy.  I try to help him out but he doesn’t want my help.  Poor boy.

Right now only the big girls live outside.  The two little girls live in our garage now.  They still have a month or more until they can move outside.  We just starting putting the big girls out there at night this past week.  I was VERY nervous at first but they have done great!  Here is their coop.

The coop can hold up to 6 chickens but we will only have four this year.  We can move it around our yard which is nice so one part of the yard doesn’t get pecked at a ton or doesn’t get pooped ALL over.  It will still be a while until we get any eggs from these ladies but we are still enjoying them anyways.  It will be probably until the end of summer early fall until we get any.  We enjoy playing with them though and will continue watching them grow and enjoying them as our pets!
