Snow and Sickness

Last week was a crazy week!  My mom and her friend Patti came up which is always great.  I love when my mom comes up.  Who doesn’t love when their mom comes to visit really?  I was hoping that our week would be filled with lots of playing, maybe some shopping and a little bit of baking.  Well, it was not that.  My mom got to our house Monday afternoon and Hadley woke up from her nap with fever and just wanting to cuddle.  I wasn’t too worried though because Hadley has never been sick for more than a day really so even though it wasn’t a fun way to start the week and I hate when one of my babies are sick, I didn’t think it would last long.  I was wrong.  Hadley ran fever for two days but then still had symptoms for a week!  She didn’t eat, she was tired, she was fussy (she still is tired and fussy), she just wanted to cuddle.  Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday she woke up fine and happy.  We would go play somewhere or do something but then in the afternoon or evening she would be dying down and just want to stay on the couch again, with me only.  Poor baby.

One thing that was so hard about her being sick is that Noah didn’t understand.  Instead of just playing or going about like normal he would sometimes want to do what his sister was doing so he would think he would need to cuddle or wine.  It was rough.  So even though my mom was there willing to play/read/cuddle/whatever, my kids just wanted me.

Another game changer was the weather.  My mom and I thought it was going to be cold but did not realize it was supposed to snow while she was here.  It snowed and iced and rained a lot.  This was the first time Noah really saw snow.  He thought it was AWESOME.  Here are some pictures from the snow.

Hadley didn’t enjoy it as much.  She probably would have if she felt better.  I hope at least because we are supposed to head to back to Telluride in a couple of weeks to see the snow!

Even though last week didn’t go as planned I am still glad my mom and her friend came to visit.  It is always an enjoyable time!  Oh, and we did get to bake this 🙂  It was sweet and yummy and we made it into french toast the next morning.  Yumm!
